Light Fumed

Fuming oak is an old technique. It is a chemical reaction relying on the naturally occurring tannins present in the tree.  It is not a dye, it actually alters the colour of the wood itself.

As it is reliant on the presence of tannin to work it must be pointed out that floors will be variable due to differing concentrations in various trees and even in different parts of the same tree.

The colour here has just nicely turned, when oiled, it brings out any slight colour difference among the grain.
